It’s official – Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in cinemas will be released later than previously planned. Additionally, the first of these films will be available simultaneously on the Disney + streaming platform. Initially, the production focusing on Natasha Romanoff’s past was to debut in May 2020, then in November 2020 and May 2021. Currently (and it seems to be a fairly certain date) the premiere is scheduled for July 9. Accordingly, the MCU installation about the martial arts master was postponed to September 3. But how can you be sure it will stay that way? Kevin Feige replies:
Confidence in today’s world means nothing, because no one knows anything. Hope dies last.
However, from another delay, the premiere is more surprising that Black Widow will also be released on Disney + on July 9. Until now, there was a strict stance on a fully cinematic debut and nothing indicated a change of decision. However, thanks to the successes of other productions released on the market in this way and the positive reaction of the recipients, the authorities of Disney and Marvel Studios decided to take such a step.
There is another aspect to this – the Black Widow’s promotional campaign began even before COVID-19 turned into a global pandemic. So it needs to be taken, which means revealing new information. It is hard to expect fans to be content with re-watching the annual trailer. However, the authorities of Marvel Studios are prepared for this as well. As Kevin Feige assures:
We have the pleasure and privilege of working with the best marketing department in Hollywood history, so restarting this campaign, and all the others, won’t be a problem.
So it only remains to wait for the upcoming trailers, advertising spots or posters and the premieres themselves.
